Saltburn beach

The water was cold and delicious to the touch, the cool wind made me shiver but i looked up into the sky and felt the merciless rays of the sun beating down. My friend is coughing, water has gone up her nose, maybe she is suffering or is she play acting? i bet my brother runs into the sea and holds his breath as the icy water splashes his body.

the boy and the sewage pipe

I splashed in the sea, and chased some seagulls with a stick and built sand castles under the hot sun. My dad bought me an ice cream and a milk shake but what better way to end this perfect day and play along this disused sewer pipe. Some it will be hometime and i shall dream of the sea and the smell of the seaweed and the roar of the surf.

charlies angels

Two secret agents lost in there thoughts, one disguised as a glamorous surfer and the other as a middle aged woman, note the serious padding and the lined face this took hours of make up and method acting or was this Camille Parker Bowles?

Saltburn

They are so beautiful and she has such a wonderful smile, they were lost in there thoughts and so much in love, just as they were about to cross a busy road i asked if i could take there picture. She smiled and they held hands. I wished her luck with the baby.

toilet door

Please believe me i do not make a habit of taking photos in men's toilets, trust me! i was probably lucky not to get arrested. I captured the racist and sexist graffiti on the toilet door, to show the other passions, hatreds and desires that lay within the human heart. A Public convenience in Whitby.

Amity shark patrol

This smiling lady was looking at her boyfriend displaying a small fish he had caught about the size of a tadpole. I asked him if he strained his arms pulling in this mighty shark, he laughed and i caught this great shot, i have re cropped it to focus on the delightful expression on the girls face.

sweets

Whitby has some truly amazing shops. In a shopwindow in the gathering gloom i spotted these minute sweets and puddings for a dolls house. Imagine being in Lillput and being able to hold one of these in your hand and bite through the delicate pastry to savour the sweet taste. To smell the mazipan and the icing sugar and to touch these to your quivering lips. MMmmmmmmmmmm

Whitby

I was offered a lift to Whitby on a Sunday afternoon and spent a hurried couple of hours trying to take some good pictures in the overcast light. Whitby is simply stunning and doesn't deserve to be in coastal towns they forgot to close down. It is one of the most beautiful places in Britain, a place of romance, mystery and happiness. Even when rushing around among the crowded streets i had a feeling of infinite and unexpected happiness. Whitby always brings within me the feeling that the world is truly infinite.

jumper

John Constable once wrote that everything is beautiful if you stare at it long enough. This discarded sweatshirt covered in sand once was bought and worn and cherished. I imagine the warm fibres being pulled down over some ones cheeks and to cover there chest. The pride when it was worn for the first time, being admired in the mirror, and then the wearers girlfriend resting her hands on the sweatshirt feeling the fabric and her man, and then they kiss. Now the sweatshirt is abandoned, lost and without any function but it calls out to me, remember me! Found on Redcar beach.

love and devotion

The love they feel for each other shines through, i can imagine all the joys tears and love they have shared with each other. The broken plates, the arguments, but at the end of the day the delicate touch of there hands on each other because life is always to be lived and because love is to be given to the one that you loved. A couple in Redcar.

Redcar

Today i spent the day at Redcar which was a thriving seaside resort...........in Edwardian times, now its a place to walk your dog or shop in bargain basement land. all the pictures you see were taken with a canon powershot. I was amazed by how friendly people were and they were all quite happy to pose despite my cheesy introduction. The day was misty and murky, the beach was deserted, accept for yours truly, with my good friend John looking at clumps of seaweed and phallic shapes. I was accosted by a drunk clutching a jelly baby in his hand, i took his picture and his befuddled mind he was some kind of superstar. the photo you see above was of an attractive couple i met at random.

welcome to nowhere

Hello and welcome to a new blog. This will have great pictures of seaside towns and sairical asides and wry commentary on faded seaside resorts, the resorts that time seems to have forgotten. Bandstands gathering weeds, the crazy golf sprouting rust, the penny arcades peliferating like cancer, the burger vans belching grease and diesel, the vandalised bus shelters, the old people cluttering the benches wishing there end will come soon and the chavs in the trackies spray painting the closed public toilets and good old Uncle Gerald molesting kids in the park, if this interests you then check out the weekly posts and new photos
